SpyIn everything that you do, there are eyes following you. Even when you are all alone, the phone company knows where you are. They are tracking you through your smartphone. They may even check up on you as often as every seven to ten seconds. This can happen whether or not you are on your phone. These checks are more frequent for some customers and less frequent for others, but everyone is being tracked. This is part of the way that cellular technology works. If you are going to use a phone that can connect into a grid without wires, the company that is servicing the phone needs to know where it is so that they can help it connect.

Signal strength can change drastically when you are on the move. If you are talking for a half an hour while you drive down the highway, you will probably pass a number of different cell phone towers. Each time that you do, your conversation will be switched from one tower to the next. The signal will stay at the same level of strength, so you will not even notice, but this will only be happening because the company is shifting the signal away from one tower and on to another one.

This is especially crucial with smartphones since they go on the internet. At any time, you could be uploading or downloading pieces of information. You could be trying to access the contents of a website, pulling the data down onto your phone. This cannot be interrupted, or the phone will not work. The information will not transfer smoothly from one place to the next. An internet connection also has to be used to transfer a larger amount of information, so the signal needs to be even stronger than you need it to be if you are just talking to someone else.

The company also needs to know where you are so that they can connect you to the right websites. If you go to Ebay in Australia, for instance, you will go to Ebay.au. If you go to it in the United States, you will go to Ebay.com. The Canadian version is Ebay.ca. The phone must know which site you are looking for so that it can connect you to the one that best fits your needs.

Finally, the phone company has to know what they are supposed to charge you for each phone call, each text message, or each time that you go online. Things that you do outside of the country cost more money. Calls that leave the country cost more than those that stay inside. If they do not know where you are, they will not know if you are making these more expensive calls. In order to be able to bill you correctly, they must be able to check your location. They need to know where you are even before you make the call so that everything can work together smoothly while you are on your phone.
