The use of FTP is pretty much essential if you maintain a website or blog. That being said, FileZilla is a great solution for your FTP needs. Released as a server/client set, you can use it to host a server(FileZilla Server) or connect to one. It’s free, open-source and cross-platform; there aren’t any catches. It may not be as flashy compared to commercial counterparts, but it does its job well.
The interface may take some time to get used to, but once you do, it’s hard to look back! On the top, there is a box displaying the connection message log, an output showing the commands from the client and the server’s responses.
In the middle, there is a file and folder view displaying your local machine files and remote server files. Finally, at the bottom, the transfer queue is displayed.
Filezilla allows you to save your recent connection to history to facilitate future connections(QuickConnect). You can also add ftp connections through the Site Manager.
Now onto technical features, Filezilla offers you the ability to set speed limits, SFTP and proxies, switching between active and passive modes and the number of simultaneous transfers. On the aesthetic side, you can change languages, date formats and change to different themes -or icon sets.

I just started using FileZilla the other day and I love it, so much better than the other FTP program I was using.
