[Freeware] Games you probably have never heard of: TeeWorlds + Review
The estimated reading time for this post is 121 seconds
Add Quake and platformer games like Kirby together and you got Teeworlds. It’s a free and open source side scrolling shooter featuring cute little Tees with guns. The game is cross platform and works on Windows,Mac and Linux, meaning that you can play on pretty much any computer with an internet connection. Don’t worry about the download time, the game itself is under 10 MB. Just unpack the game files, take a peek at the controls, set up your skin and username and fight!
With over 700 servers online, you probably won’t run out of teammates anytime soon. Don’t worry about being bullied as a newbie, the game is aimed at casual gamers. Just by looking at the game graphics style, you can understand why it is oriented at casual users. Killing someone won’t reward you with blood and gore, but a smiley face on your Tee. If you feel like being at control, you can easily host your very own server with the dedicated server program. Many different game modes are available for play; the three official modes are Deathmatch, Team Match and Capture The Flag, pretty standard modes that can be found in most of the FPS out there. However, there are many community-made modes/mods. For example, there are popular modes like DDRace(think of it as an obstacle course race) and iCTF/InstaGib(One shot kill).
Playing the game is very easy and a pretty easy learning curve. You move around with the WASD keys and jump with Space. You can also use the grappling hook to go to spots you can’t normally reach with jump(right click). The hook is an important skill to master, you have to not only have a good aim, but great agility skills by moving around with the hook. Left click to shoot/hammer smash your enemies! There are 6 weapons: the hammer(melee), a gun, a shotgun, a grenade launcher, a laser rifle and a -hidden- Ninja unlockable. Your Armour, Health as well as Ammo is displayed with cute icons on the upper left of the screen.
The downside of this game is that there are no AI bots, single-player mode or an soundtrack, meaning that you can only play with an internet connection and the audio experience is lacking. However, with all graphics game files stored as PNG, the game is more moddable than ever.

Terrific work! This is the type of information that should be shared around the web. Shame on the search engines for not positioning this post higher!
